FAQ

How do I convert bytes to kilobytes?
Divide by 1024 for binary (KiB) or 1000 for decimal (KB). 1 KiB = 1024 bytes, 1 KB = 1000 bytes. The tool handles both systems and converts between bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB, and PB.
What is the difference between KB and KiB?
KB (kilobyte) = 1000 bytes (decimal/SI system, used by storage manufacturers). KiB (kibibyte) = 1024 bytes (binary system, used by operating systems). A 500 GB drive shows as ~465 GiB in your OS.
How do I convert file sizes between units?
Enter any value with its unit (bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB) and the converter instantly shows the equivalent in all other units. Supports both binary (power of 1024) and decimal (power of 1000) systems.
